How Does Fat Injection Show Its Effects?

Fat cells taken from the fattening area in the human body with the help of cannula are injected into the desired areas after they pass through the purification process. In the first 3 months, although there may be an average of 30-40% fat tissue loss depending on some factors such as the person’s genetic structure, diet and lifestyle, habits (smoking, tobacco use), the remaining fat cells will continue their vitality in new living areas. Stem cells among fat tissues also contribute to facial rejuvenation by gaining the properties of the tissue in new living areas.

Shortly, if patients pay attention to their sleep cycles, oxygen levels, eating habits and exercises, the permanence of facial fat injection is positively contributed. We definitely do not recommend smoking in order to have permanent and successful results from the facial fat injection.

How Is Fat Injection Performed?

Face areas that will be treated are marked before the application. This marking is usually done in front of a mirror when the patient and doctor can decide together. This stage is very important because we can guide the patient with our experience and professional knowledge when patients tell us what kind of change they expect and which areas they want to be filled with.

Anesthesia Application: It is more comfortable for the patient and doctor to perform fat injection operations on the whole face under general anesthesia. Local anesthesia causes swelling and makes it difficult to understand the level of filling when adjusting the fat amount to be applied and fullness level. However, if a filling is to be done into very small areas or lips, it is possible to have this operation under local anesthesia.

Where to Take Fat From?: Fat distribution in a patient’s body is determined during the examination. Therefore, the area for fat removal changes for everyone. Generally, the abdomen and inner part of the legs are the areas where fat is removed most frequently. An additional aesthetic benefit can be provided to the patient by removing fat from the inner parts of the knees or jowl.

How Are Fats Processed?: Fats are extracted and collected with thin cannulas. Then, the purification process is carried out and the waste liquids and fat particles of poor quality are eliminated. Quality fat remains after the purification process. Purification increases the permanence of the fat to be injected in the long term, increasing the success of the surgery and patient satisfaction.

How Is Fat Injection Applied?: In the fat injection process, there is a varying amount of fat loss from person to person. Therefore, more filling can be applied to some patients. Considering the desired fullness after this operation, fat injection is made, and up to 10% is added. After too much filling, the face will be a little more swollen than it should be, and more satisfactory results are obtained after three months of fat loss and six months of recovery.

During fat injection, all fat fillers should not be given to a single area. Injecting the fat tissue gradually and in different directions in a way to facilitate nutrition from the surrounding area increases permanence and naturalness.

Is There Any Scars After Fat Injection?: Millimetric incisions are made on face injection areas and entered through these incisions with thin cannulas. Since these scars are hidden behind skin folds, there is no scarring.

Recovery Period

Many details should be paid attention to during the recovery period of facial fat injection. You should listen to all suggestions of your doctor very well and, you should contact and ask your questions immediately when necessary.

I do not recommend ice compresses to prevent swelling after the surgery. This is because the ice can cause contraction and shrinkage in the veins. As a result, although edema and bruising decrease, it can also prevent newly added fat tissues from feeding through blood and having oxygen. This can negatively affect fat permanence.

Smoking should be avoided for at least 3 weeks after the operation. If possible, patients should stay away from smoking. Smoking triggers the amount of fat loss and delays the healing process.

Swelling and bruising reach at maximum level on the 3rd or 4th day after the operation. Prescribed antibiotics, painkillers, and anti-bruising creams should be used regularly. Swelling which occurs very fat is also recovered at the same pace and our patients can return to their work and normal lives after about 10 days of resting period.

Loss of injected fats after the operation is spread over the first 3 months. The loss in the amount of injected fat is at the maximum level in the first month. It takes 6 months to 1 year for the procedure area to take its final form.
